It is a solar cell, …
It is a solar cell, the reason you try and get that cuprous oxide is because it is a semiconductor, just like the silicon in normal solar cells. However, this semiconductor is very inefficient and is like 10 times worse than silicon. In reality, any semiconductor can be used to produce electricity. Hopefully more can be found so we can build these more easily.

    This is not …
This is not instructions on how to make a solar cell. There is no photovoltaic reaction. What you’ve made is a battery. (dumbass)

yes. but it’s a battery, not a solar cell, unfortunately =( And it costs more to make then the worth it puts out in energy.

Will it work with a gas oven? Cuz I live in the country and we use propane instead of electricity, so that way if the lights go out, we can still cook food lol.

    replace clean Cu …
replace clean Cu sheet and put in Al or another metal.wire is enough too..you will getmore tension (0.050V before, 0.254V after ;) .)BUT.sheet you put in couldnt be too big.if will, than it will behave like Resistor…no voltaic collector and tension will get low…try ;)PS: Try some thing with lemon acid from fresh lemon .sun is not important .but amperage is too low for power something.Ive got cca 3.5V.but less like 30mA (it depends on size of metal sheets).good luck have ;)

lool”:D i tried it…..its running, but….little strange:D. i made it from 1.5×3cm Cu plates ….tested under 12V 35W point light…… in smooth state its giving cca 0.035V …… strange is that its one moment getting higher, one moment its getting zero… …and then, i turned light on, polarite changed and take same voltage …… loooool?:D

i think it is a battery that just charges better when warm,as for the energy to bake the copper if u only did it when cooking on the hob will not be wasting so much energy

    it’s to act as a …
it’s to act as a transporter for the ions when electrons are produced from the copper it’s left with Cu2+ ions which have to go to the other copper plate and yeah that’s where they build up.. im uming that because that would be in a normal redox equation.. though yeah just got out of high school so i dont see how this is renewable without putting a powersource in to reverse the reaction.. in my mind it’s more like a rechargable battery but hey what do i know
