What and how are renewable energy used for? Uses such as green cars, lighting and heating. Pleease help me by explaining in detail how and why it works.
Energy is simply energy - it is no colour. The green and alternative relate to how they are produced. So usually they will end up either as motive power for a vehicle or in the national grid along with all the non-green electricity made from coal. So what is it used for? The same as any other energy is used for.

2010 Feb 25 2Alternative energy simply means an energy source that is more efficient and better for the environment. For instance, CFL lighting is better than the old incandescent light bulb because they waste less electricity (incandescent bulbs waste energy as heat). Now, you can even do better than CFL’s, New LED light bulbs can save you even more energy…
Renewable energy means that the sources that the energy comes from isn’t going to end… An example of this is Solar energy. The sun isn’t going away any time soon… Yet, petroleum is.
Hope this helps… I got this info from reading a new blog: http://www.GreenerTweets.com
